Why this variety: The Scarlet Oak is a native to the north eastern United States. It’s knownfor its beautiful foliage. In spring the leaves emerge with a slight red tint, then turn fresh green for summer, and end a vibrant scarlet red in fall. Scarlet oak is a versatile Oak verity in that it can thrive in less-than-ideal acidic, dry soil, sand soil, as well as tolerating slightly alkaline soil.
Not only is this a stunning tree in the landscape, but it’s an important food source for wildlife such as songbirds, turkeys, grouse, squirrels and deer.
