Zone: 4 to 9

Prefers: Full Sun/Semi Shade

Will grow: 30’-40’ Tall and Wide

Why this variety: The Salix Babylonica Weeping Willow is believed to have originated in China and has since been shared and spread all around. It not only brings a whimsical beauty to the landscape but is a wonderful host to many caterpillars. This variety is very traditional with a wide spread, beautiful green foliage, and long hanging branches. Although we often plant these near water, Salix Babylonica Willow also grows well away from bodies of water and is lightly drought tolerant.

***Plan before you plant: Weeping Willows are very fast growers and LOVE water. This is great if you’re looking for a tree to provide shade and mature quickly. And, if you have a good amount of spot away from your home where the fast growing shallow roots can find the water they need. However, it should not be planted to close to your home as the limbs can damage the house in a storm and the roots may become invasive, finding your sewer line to be their happy place for water and clog them.***

Current plant size: 1 1/2” Trunk diameter (6-9’ feet tall with good branching in a 7 gallon nursery pot or larger)
