Toes in the grass and hands in the dirt, a joy filled family business!

Our story

Years ago, after splurging on a huge field pumpkin at the local pumpkin patch, we saved the seeds and the next year tried to grow the biggest pumpkin ever! After googling “How to grow a giant pumpkin” we were blown away by the world of competitive growing. These folks were serious!! And their produce was incredible: 3 foot long carrots, 1 ton pumpkins, and onions as big as your head!

A couple years later we were growing goliath pumpkins, yardstick sized carrots, enormous tomatoes, and much more. The key was maintaining extraordinarily healthy and productive plants grown with more than simply potting soil and synthetic fertilizer, but focused on soil health, rich in beneficial bacteria and fungi. These plants were resilient to transplant shock, stress, disease and ended up winning multiple awards for years.

With this success the idea was born; let’s start a business and elevate the nursery industry by providing competition quality and resilient plants at affordable prices for all families to enjoy!

Plant varieties critically selected and grown to a higher standard

We pride ourselves on the plants we’ve very carefully selected and the care we’ve given them. Not all plant varieties are created equally, so we base our selections on yield, fresh flavor, storage holding, disease resistance, hardiness and growth habit.

Potting soil and synthetic fertilizer aren’t enough for us. As a higher standard we inoculate all our potted plants with a full ecosystem of over 800 university studied beneficial microorganisms, creating a plant much more resilient to stress, weather extremes, disease, insects, and transplant shock. This potted ecosystem also reduces input costs of fertilizer, pesticides, and water.

We also inoculate each potted plant with mycorrhizal fungi ultimately creating a much larger and healthier root structure than those not inoculated.

“Just being surrounded by bountiful nature, rejuvenates and inspires us.”
