Why this variety: The Carpathian Walnut originated in the Carpathian mountains eastward to Korea. They are a much more cold hardy version of the English walnut and can handle hard winters. The nuts are easy to crack open, filled with large amounts of delicious nut meat, and can be stored several months at room temperature when dried or for years if frozen. Carpathian walnuts are known for their outstanding nut quality, fine wood, and aesthetic characteristics.
***Partially self-fertile but will produce more nuts with more than one tree in close proximity as they are wind pollinated***
