Zone: 5 to 8
Prefers: Full Sun
Will grow: 15’+ Tall and Wide
Fruit Ripens: Around August
Ideal for: Fresh Eating/Canning/Baking/Dehydrating
Why this variety: The Reliance Peach originated in 1964 from New Hampshire. It’s the most cold-hardy peach variety available, even producing well into Canada. Reliance produces tons of beautiful pink blossoms in the spring and a huge crop of medium to large sweet, soft, juicy fruits in the summer. This is a “freestone” variety meaning the flesh is easily removed from the pit which is the most common variety at markets for easy fresh eating.
***Self Pollinating***
***As this is a zone 5, it’s encouraged to plant on the north or east side of a building and heavily mulch to keep the soil cooler later into the spring. This encourages the tree to stay dormant longer, protecting its delicate blossoms from a late spring “flash freeze”. ***
Current plant size: 3/4” trunk diameter in a 5-gallon nursery pot
Root Stock: Self
