Bluecrop - Blueberry (Highbush)
Zone: 4 to 7
Prefers Full Sun
Will grow 4-6’ Tall and 3-4’ Wide
Fruit starts ripening around July
Ideal for Fresh Eating/Jam/Baking
Why this variety: Bluecrop Blueberries were introduced in 1941 and are used heavily for fruit production in New Jersey and Michigan because it is such a hardy cultivar. Bluecrop produces large berries on large clusters and have great flavor for both fresh and frozen eating. It’s also a slightly smaller shrub than Jersey if that is a consideration. Yielding annually up to a mind blowing 10-20 lbs (35-70 cups of blueberries per bush) at maturity when properly pruned!
***Bluecrop is partially self pollinating. It does not require a cross but planting with another highbush blueberry variety such as Jersey can greatly increase yield***
Plant size: Shrub 1+ foot tall in a 1 gallon pot.
